From July 1 to August 19, Camp Elevate delivered eight dynamic weeks of transformative learning and self-discovery. Every week challenged campers to sharpen their skills, ignite their confidence, and forge meaningful connections that empowered them to thrive both individually and as a community.
BUILDING SKILLS & CONFIDENCE
Campers strengthened their teamwork and leadership through daily reflections, open discussions, and debate activities. Journaling was tied to themes like personal growth and goal-setting, with prompts such as overcoming procrastination—highlighted by a viewing of Tim Urban’s TED Talk. They also engaged in meaningful sessions with Mental Health Clinician, April Parsons, who covered topics like self-image, overthinking, and communication skills, all inspired by the students themselves. These experiences encouraged self-expression, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Creative Projects
A highlight of the summer was the Shark Tank–style business project, where campers worked in teams to pitch innovative ideas to boost foot traffic at their local mall and benefit their overall community. Students also engaged in the Career Talk Show project where they researched a chosen career and crafted interview scripts with partners. Additionally campers enjoyed guided art workshops where they each created their own canvas painting, participated in a lively dance class with instructor Tammy, and built the kindness wall to encourage peer support and mindfulness.
Field Trips & Experiences
Campers explored beyond the classroom with memorable field trips, including:
- Brockton Rox baseball game
- Plymouth DA’s Office for First Aid & Narcan training
- Walk Audit hosted by WalkMass and the Plymouth County Planning Council
- Museum of Ice Cream in Boston
- Roxbury Public Library for an event hosted by Harvard Brain Science Initiative
- Massachusetts State House tour lead by their State Representative Rita Mendes
They also enjoyed sports, nature walks, and wellness sessions at a private gym.
Community Connections
Families joined us for Parent & Community Night, where campers proudly hosted activities and offered them a meaningful opportunity to share their experiences at Camp Elevate. This event allowed campers to lead their families on a tour of camp life, showcase their work, and facilitated engaging activities. Campers also gave back to the community by assembling hygiene kits for community members in need. Furthermore, campers joined WalkMass and the Plymouth County Planning Council for a Walk Audit to assess walkability and safety around West Middle School where they offered their feedback.
A Strong Finish
On the final day, August 19, campers returned to the stage to present their projects once again—this time incorporating the feedback they received from their initial pitches. One of the most impactful moments of the summer was the Shark Tank–style business project, where campers became young entrepreneurs, teaming up to pitch bold, community-focused ideas designed to revitalize their local mall. With creativity, collaboration, and confidence, they tackled real-world challenges and presented their visions to a panel of judges—proving that with the right support, youth can be powerful drivers of innovation and change. It was a powerful conclusion to a summer defined by growth, collaboration, and self-discovery—highlighting just how much they had learned and accomplished together.
Camp Elevate 2025 was a celebration of opportunity, learning, and community. We are proud of the progress made by every camper and look forward to seeing their continued success.
