HCP and Cape Verdean Woman United find shelter for migrants

In the heart of Brockton, a seemingly ordinary school bus rumbled through the streets to Signature Restaurant, traveling with a diverse group of people. However, this was no typical bus ride – it carried a group of fifteen migrants who had found themselves displaced from Logan Airport. In their hour of need, a local pastor reached out to someone who had made a reputation for compassion and swift action: Marline Amedee, the president and co-founder of HCP.  Recognizing the immediate need to address the hunger of the migrants, Marline wasted no time. Volunteering Signature’s Kitchen, she and her husband provided a solid meal to migrants. As the migrants ate, Marline’s thoughts turned to the next crucial step in their journey to stability.

Without hesitation, she knew where compassion and foresight would be found; Marline dialed the number of Tina Cardoso, a prominent figure in the community and the founder and executive director of Cape Verdean Woman United. “Tina,” Marline said earnestly, “I need to find a place to sleep for some new arrivals.” Tina, known for her unwavering commitment to the community, responded without hesitation. Tina Cardoso and Marline swiftly mobilized resources, securing temporary shelter for the migrant families in a nearby motel and ensuring a place to sleep while the families navigate the complexities of the Emergency Shelter Process, ensuring a smooth transition for the displaced families.  In this unexpected and challenging situation, the collaboration between Marline Amedee and Tina Cardoso exemplified the power of compassion and quick action. A pastor, an ordinary school bus, and two community leaders are now symbols of hope and resilience; the school bus will continue its journey through Brockton, leaving a trail of kindness in its wake.
